Knee, ankle, and shoulder injuries
can be some of the most painful and frustrating orthopaedic
injuries. If left untreated, these injuries can lead to
instability, chronic pain, or decreased mobility. Without
proper care, they can end a promising sports career or force early
retirement. Early and accurate diagnosis, coupled with state-of-the-art
treatment will lead to the quickest recovery and the best results.
That's our goal at All - Sport
Orthopaedics. Many problems can be diagnosed and
treated through arthroscopic surgery. A Diplomate of the
American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the
Arthroscopic Association of North America, Dr. Cherney has spent
years perfecting this precise surgical technique.
Your treatment will be determined
only after Dr. Cherney completes a thorough history and orthopaedic
examination.
Arthroscopy is just one of many ways
Dr. Cherney approaches orthopaedic problems. Here are the key
elements to Dr. Cherney's orthopaedic care:
- Home
Rehabilitation- This
may include prescribed strengthening exercises and simple
workouts that can be done at home without the need for
supervision. Especially helpful for older people, or
simple injuries that do not require advanced care.
Physical
Therapy- Dr.
Cherney works with some of the top sports physical therapists in
the area. Therapy is often the doctor's first choice to
see if your injury will respond to a program of conservative
treatment. It can also be used to rehabilitate a patient
before or after surgery.
- Surgery- Nobody
wants surgery, but in the case of severe sports injuries or
orthopaedic problems, surgery may provide the best
results. Dr. Cherney is recognized throughout the New York
area for his surgical skills. Whenever possible, he will
explore minimally-invasive procedures, such as arthroscopy,
which have proven very successful in the surgery of all
joints. He'll work with you to ensure a speedy,
comfortable post-surgical recovery.
Arthroscopy
Dr. Cherney is trained in the use of
the fiber optic technology called arthroscopy.
Through a tiny incision, a physician can look directly into a joint -
typically a knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow or wrist - to evaluate
damage or disease. Through the same small incisions, many
different procedures can be performed. Compared to open joint surgery, there is less trauma,
scarring and discomfort, and a quicker recovery can be expected!

Knee
The
knee is particularly vulnerable to injury during sports or in the
workplace. Problems may develop after a single traumatic
injury but commonly they are chronic in nature. If surgery is
necessary, Dr. Cherney utilizes arthroscopic surgical techniques to
evaluate and treat most knee disorders, including meniscus and
ligament tears. Since these procedures are less invasive then
open surgeries, they can be done on an outpatient basis in an
ambulatory surgery center.

Shoulder
Great advances have been made
recently in shoulder rehabilitation and surgery. The use of
arthroscopic techniques using small or limited incisions are now
routinely used to treat many common shoulder disorders. Almost
all shoulder surgery is now done in a same day ambulatory surgical
center. Rehabilitation of the injured or post - operative
shoulder may require state of the art approaches.
Dr. Cherney will detail specific
treatment plans for your therapist to facilitate your return to full
function.

complexity of the foot and ankle, along with large forces of weight
bearing lead to many types of injuries. These problems will be
thoroughly evaluated to allow an accurate diagnosis. Many
treatments are utilized to assure a quick recovery including
